    Background
TOLLIP, also known as Toll interacting protein, is an inhibitory adaptor protein within Toll-like receptors. The TLR pathway is a part of the innate immune system that recognizes structurally conserved molecular patterns of microbial pathogens, leading to an inflammatory immune response. Negative regulation of TLR signaling by TOLLIP may limit the production of proinflammatory mediators during inflammation and infection. Also, it forms a complex with Tom1 to regulate endosomal trafficking of ubiquitinated proteins. Recombinant human TOLLIP protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography. Synonyms: Toll interacting protein, FLJ33531, IL-1RAcPIP.
