MUC7 encodes a small salivary mucin, which is thought to play a role in facilitating the clearance of bacteria in the oral cavity and to aid in mastication, speech, and swallowing. Additionally we are shipping MUC7 Kits (33) and MUC7 Antibodies (22) and many more products for this protein.

MUC7 is a salivary mucin (show SLC13A2 Proteins) with antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi.
A significant increase in sulfation was identified in salivary MUC7 from rheumatoid arthritis patients.
The study did not show a correlation between the MUC7 genotypes and caries.
The present study did not disclose an association between MUC7*5/*6 and MUC7*6/*6 genotypes and gingival bleeding index.
expression of different numbers of terminal repeats in this salivary mucin (show SLC13A2 Proteins) in the oral environment does not interfere with the etiopathogenesis of aggressive or chronic periodontitis
MUC7 expression in ductal adenocarcinoma (DAC (show AADAC Proteins)) and chronic pancreatitis was not statistically significant, but MUC7 could be considered as potential marker of malignant lesions, especially in pancreatic DAC (show AADAC Proteins), as it was positive in 73% of these cases.
A novel MUC7*5-generated variable number of tandem repeat (VNTR) polymorphism decreases the likelihood of a diagnosis of asthma in an African American population.
MUC5B and MUC7 from HIV patients, unlike the MUC5B and MUC7 from HIV negative individuals, did not inhibit HIV-1 activity.
Level of MG2 is lower in saliva (show RAG1AP1 Proteins) of subjects with dental disease
This gene encodes a small salivary mucin, which is thought to play a role in facilitating the clearance of bacteria in the oral cavity and to aid in mastication, speech, and swallowing. The central domain of this glycoprotein contains tandem repeats, each composed of 23 amino acids. The most common allele contains 6 repeats, and some alleles may be associated with susceptibility to asthma. Alternatively spliced transcript variants with different 5' UTR, but encoding the same protein, have been found for this gene.
