Immunogen A synthetic peptide to phospho S41 of human Axonal membrane protein GAP-43 conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the antigen. The peptide is homologous in many species including rat, mouse and zebrafish.
Isotype IgG
Specificity Specific for GAP-43.
Alternative Name GAP 43 (GAP43 Antibody Abstract)
Background Function: This protein is associated with nerve growth. It is a major component of the motile growth cones that form the tips of elongating axons.
Subunit: Binds calmodulin with a greater affinity in the absence of Ca(2+) than in its presence.
Subcellular location: Cell membrane, Peripheral membrane protein, Cytoplasmic side. Cell projection, growth cone membrane, Peripheral membrane protein, Cytoplasmic side. Cell junction, synapse. Note: Cytoplasmic surface of growth cone and synaptic plasma membranes. Also known as: Neuromodulin, growth-associated protein 43, protein F1, Basp2, B-50.
Pathways
Application Notes Use at a concentration of 10-50 µg/ml.
The optimal working concentration should be determined by the end user.
Not yet tested in other applications. This antibody may also recognise the unphosphorylated form.
Restrictions For Research Use only
Format Lyophilized
Reconstitution Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
Handling Advice Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
Storage 4 °C/-20 °C
Storage Comment Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
Expiry Date 12 months
