  1. HBXIP (show HBXIP Proteins) facilitates the proliferation of hepatoma cells by up-regulating SCG3 via E2F1 (show E2F1 Proteins) and miR (show MLXIP Proteins)-509-3p modulation.

  2. SCG3 is essential in the process and targeting of neuropeptides and neurotrophins, its participation in the pathological progression of Alzheimer's disease may be suggested

  3. SCG3 may be involved in apoptosis signal transduction as a caspase (show CASP3 Proteins) substrate. It may be a pivotal component of the neuroendocrine pathway & play an important role in neuronal communication & neurotransmitter release.

  4. Our data suggest that genetic variations in the FTO (show FTO Proteins), SCG3 and MTMR9 (show MTMR9 Proteins) genes independently influence the risk of metabolic syndrome.

  5. This short review deals with investigations in neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) with antibodies against defined epitopes of chromogranins (Cgs) A and B and secretogranins (Sgs (show FBN1 Proteins)) II and III.

  6. SgIII was expressed in 41 of 47 neuroendocrine tumours. The expression of SgIII agreed well with that of CgA (show CGA Proteins), CgB (show CGB Proteins) and SgII (show SEMG2 Proteins), with exceptions of phaeochromocytomas and parathyroid adenomas.

  7. Genetic variations in the SCG3 gene may influence the risk of obesity through possible regulation of hypothalamic neuropeptide secretion.

  8. these data suggest that SgIII, DMT-1 (show DMRT1 Proteins) and HNP-1 (show DEFA1 Proteins) are implicated in cell-mediated LDL oxidation.

Mouse (Murine) Secretogranin III (SCG3) interaction partners

  1. we show by RNA silencing that CPE (show CPE Proteins) and SgIII play a synergistic role in the trafficking of POMC (show POMC Proteins) to granules of the regulated secretory pathway in AtT20 cells

  2. SgIII knockdown impairs intracellular retention of chromogranin A (show CHGA Proteins) and proopiomelanocortin (show POMC Proteins) in AtT-20 cells.

  3. The robust expression of SgIII in astrocytes and its regulation in the injured brain suggest both intracellular and extracellular roles for this glial granin in the physiology and repair/damage of neuronal circuits.

  4. SgIII directly binds to cholesterol components of the secretory granule membrane and targets chromogranin A (show CHGA Proteins) to secretory granules in pituitary and pancreatic endocrine cells

  5. SgIII and CPE (show CPE Proteins) form the separate functional sorting complex by anchoring to cholesterol-rich SG membranes, and POMC (show POMC Proteins)-derived peptides are transferred from CPE (show CPE Proteins) to SgIII, and subsequently to CgA (show CGA Proteins).

  6. SCG2 (show SCG2 Proteins), as well as SCG3, may be a potential regulator of food intake based on its capacity to accumulate appetite-related hormones into secretory granules.

Secretogranin III (SCG3) Protein Profile

Protein Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. Granins may serve as precursors for biologically active peptides. Some granins have been shown to function as helper proteins in sorting and proteolytic processing of prohormones\; however, the function of this protein is unknown. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
