Immunogen A synthetic peptide from aa region 50-90 of mouse pro BDNF conjugated to blue carrier protein was used as the antigen. The peptide is homologous in rat and zebrafish.
Isotype IgG
Specificity Specific for proBDNF.
Background Function: Promotes the survival of neuronal populations that are all located either in the central nervous system or directly connected to it. Major regulator of synaptic transmission and plasticity at adult synapses in many regions of the CNS. The versatility of BDNF is emphasized by its contribution to a range of adaptive neuronal responses including long-term potentiation (LTP), long-term depression (LTD), certain forms of short-term synaptic plasticity, as well as homeostatic regulation of intrinsic neuronal excitability.
Subunit: Monomers and homodimers. Binds to NTRK2/TRKB.
Subcellular location: Secreted. Also known as: Brain-derived neurotrophic factor precursor, proBDNF, pro BDNF.
Application Notes A concentration 10-50 µg/ml is recommended.
The optimal concentration should be determined by the end user.
Restrictions For Research Use only
Format Lyophilized
Reconstitution Reconstitute in 500 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
Handling Advice Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
Storage 4 °C/-20 °C
Storage Comment Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
