  1. Expression of the beta 4 subunit of the alpha 6 beta 4 integrin induces monocytic differentiation of 32D/v-Abl (show ABL1 Proteins) transformed cells. alpha 6 beta 4 integrin promotes growth arrest and differentiation by modulating Abl (show ABL1 Proteins) kinases and p73 (show ARHGAP24 Proteins) protein pathway(s).

  2. Integrin beta4 contributes to mammary gland development by sustaining PTHrP expression and enabling PTHrP signaling.

  3. keratins have a role in controlling beta4-integrin endocytosis involving a plectin-Erk1/2-dependent mechanism relevant for epidermal differentiation and pathogenesis

  4. Up-regulation of integrin beta4 and TRPV1 (show TRPV1 Proteins) in migrating keratinocytes.

  5. Ectopic induction of Nur77 (show NR4A1 Proteins) in endothelial cells is sufficient to improve skin wound healing. Furthermore, TR3/Nur77 (show NR4A1 Proteins) regulates the expression of integrin beta4 by targeting its promoter activity.

  6. Col17a1 (show COL17A1 Proteins)/ keratinocytes exhibited increased spreading on laminin 332 and accelerated, but less directed cell motility. These effects were accompanied by increased expression of the integrin subunits beta4 and beta1.

  7. Both annexin A7 (show ANXA7 Proteins) and integrin beta4 were essential for small molecule, 6-amino-2, 3-dihydro-3-hydroxymethyl-1, 4-benzoxazine-induced autophagy.

  8. Findings indicate a function for Id2 in regulating Snai1 (show SNAI1 Proteins)-mediated repression of integrin beta4.

  9. Targeted deletion of the signaling domain of beta4 inhibited prostate tumor growth and progression in response to loss of p53 (show TP53 Proteins) and Rb function in a model of prostate cancer (PB-TAg mice).

  10. Deficiency of integrin alpha(6 (show ITGA6 Proteins))beta(4) is modestly but significantly suppressed reporter-gene transduction by papillomaviruses in conditional integrin beta(4) knockout mice.

  1. MUC5AC interacts with integrin beta4 that mediates phosphorylation of FAK (show PTK2 Proteins) at Y397 leading to lung cancer cell migration.

  2. a significant reduction in the protein distribution of collagen IV (show COL4 Proteins) (P<0.0001), collagen VII (show TH Proteins) (P<0.001), collagen XVII (P<0.01), integrin beta4 (P<0.001) and laminin-332 (P<0.0001) in intrinsically aged skin.

  3. For the in vivo experiment, miR (show MLXIP Proteins)-182-5p overexpression also promoted the growth and progression of prostate cancer tumors. In this regard, we suggest that miR (show MLXIP Proteins)-182-5p may be a key androgen receptor (show AR Proteins)-regulated factor that contributes to the development and metastasis of Chinese prostate cancers and may be a potential target for the early diagnosis and therapeutic studies of prostate cancer.

  4. data indicate that the beta4 integrin/FAK (show PTK2 Proteins) complex and subsequent FAK (show PTK2 Proteins) activation are essential regulators during the tumorigenicity of colon cancer

  5. This work investigates alpha6beta4 integrin genetic variations (A380T and R1281W) and breast cancer risk in an Argentinian population. No subjects carrying the R1281W mutation in the ITGB4 gene were found and this absence could reflect its high deleterious impact on proteins, so it would be eliminated from the population by natural selection.

  6. analysis of deletions in ITGB4 gene causing epidermolysis bullosa with pyloric atresia [case series]

  7. ITGB4 is overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues and promotes metastases of HCC (show FAM126A Proteins) by conferring anchorage independence through EGFR (show EGFR Proteins)-dependent FAK (show PTK2 Proteins)-AKT (show AKT1 Proteins) activation.

  8. High vimentin and low beta4 integrin protein levels are associated with poor survival in oral squamous carcinoma patients.

  9. Endothelial cell overexpression of mutant ITGB4 with specific tyrosines mutated to phenylalanine (Y1440, Y1526 Y1640, or Y1422) resulted in significantly attenuated CS-induced cytokine expression.

  10. This study describes a pro-metastatic EGFR (show EGFR Proteins)/Src (show SRC Proteins)-dependent beta4 integrin/FAK (show PTK2 Proteins) complex that is involved in breast cancer malignancy and is a novel therapeutic target for triple-negative breast cancer.

Integrin beta 4 (ITGB4) Protein Profile

Protein Summary

Integrins are heterodimers comprised of alpha and beta subunits, that are noncovalently associated transmembrane glycoprotein receptors. Different combinations of alpha and beta polypeptides form complexes that vary in their ligand-binding specificities. Integrins mediate cell-matrix or cell-cell adhesion, and transduced signals that regulate gene expression and cell growth. This gene encodes the integrin beta 4 subunit, a receptor for the laminins. This subunit tends to associate with alpha 6 subunit and is likely to play a pivotal role in the biology of invasive carcinoma. Mutations in this gene are associated with epidermolysis bullosa with pyloric atresia. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene.
