  1. We found statistically significant DNA hypomethylation of the promoter regions of DRD3 (P = 0.032), DRD4 (show DRD4 Proteins) (P = 0.05), MB-COMT (show COMT Proteins) (P = 0.009), and AKT1 (show AKT1 Proteins) (P = 0.0008) associated with increased expression of the corresponding genes in patients with methamphetamine psychosis (P = 0.022, P = 0.034, P = 0.035, P = 0.038, respectively)

  2. Data indicate the effects of sodium ions on the binding affinities of a number of structurally diverse ligands at dopamine D2 and dopamine D3 receptor subtypes, which are important therapeutic targets for the treatment of psychotic disorders.

  3. Study performed docking essays using risperidone and the D3 receptor crystallographic data and results suggested two possible distinct orientations for risperidone at the binding pocket; data highlight important hot spots in the DRD3 binding site bringing relevant information for the development of novel/derivative agents with atypical profile.

  4. Applying an external electric field, at different frequencies, in the logarithmic scale along the z-direction on the dopamine-dopamine receptor D3 complex, at some frequencies has a significant effect on salt bridge interaction and the structural observables, although it does not have any systematic or predictable effect on the dynamical and physical property of the protein.

  5. The results of this study suggest that genotype in DRD3 Ser9Gly was the main factor determining different doses of DAs (show ube3a Proteins) and PD patients carrying Gly/Gly genotype require higher doses of pramipexole for effective treatment.

  6. Clathrin-mediated internalization of dopamine receptor D3 was responsible for lysosomal degradation.

  7. Analysis of gene-gene interactions with CYP2B6 (show CYP2B6 Proteins) was particularly useful to reinforce the role of MRP4 and to reveal unknown associations, such as that of DRD3.

  8. DRD3 Ser9Gly polymorphism is nominally associated with changes in triglycerides and metabolic syndrome after 12 weeks of standard BDII treatment.

  9. Regarding the DRD3 Ser9Gly polymorphism, individuals with a greater number of the Gly alleles, which are related to an increased dopamine release in the striatum, were more susceptible to social influence.

  1. The D3 dopamine receptor, a member of the Gi-coupled D2 family of dopamine receptors, are expressed throughout limbic circuits, including prefrontal cortex (PFC (show CFP Proteins)).

  2. this study shows that DRD3 signaling evokes suppressor of cytokine signaling 5 (show SOCS5 Proteins) expression, a negative regulator of Th2 development, which indirectly favors acquisition of Th1 (show HAND1 Proteins) phenotype

  3. this study shows that D3R regulates the effect of methamphetamine on LPS (show TLR4 Proteins)-induced mast cells activation

  4. This study show the Genetic blockade of the dopamine D3 receptor enhances hippocampal expression of PACAP (show ADCYAP1 Proteins) and receptors and alters their cortical distribution.

  5. Resulting dopamine receptors (D1-to-D3) ratio indicates a strong upregulation of D1R (show DRD1 Proteins)-mediated pathways in old animals, which is particularly pronounced in the lumbar spinal cord.

  6. Alcohol enhances the psychostimulant and conditioning effects of mephedrone in adolescent mice; postulation of unique roles of D3 receptors and BDNF (show BDNF Proteins) in place preference acquisition

  7. Results suggest that the dopamine D3 receptor is centrally involved in the etiology of adult anxiety- and depression-related behaviors that arise from repeated stressful experiences during childhood.

  8. D3R modulates GABAA receptors function in striatum: chronic blockade of D3R increases alpha6 subunit expression and induces insensitivity to the anxiolytic effect of diazepam

  9. The dopamine receptor D1 (show DRD1 Proteins) but not the D3 is also critical for morphine-induced BDNF (show BDNF Proteins) expression.

  10. Study identified a unique role for Npas2 (show NPAS2 Proteins) in the regulation of cocaine reward and dopamine Drd3 receptor expression

Dopamine Receptor D3 (DRD3) Protein Profile

Protein Summary

This gene encodes the D3 subtype of the five (D1-D5) dopamine receptors. The activity of the D3 subtype receptor is mediated by G proteins which inhibit adenylyl cyclase. This receptor is localized to the limbic areas of the brain, which are associated with cognitive, emotional, and endocrine functions. Genetic variation in this gene may be associated with susceptibility to hereditary essential tremor 1. Alternative splicing of this gene results in transcript variants encoding different isoforms, although some variants may be subject to nonsense-mediated decay (NMD).
