Human Cathepsin K (CTSK) interaction partners

  1. There is an increase in levels of CATK in type 1 Gaucher patients compared to the control group. In the patient group, CATK showed higher levels in patients with bone damage compared to those without it.

  2. elevated levels of CatK are closely associated with the presence of chronic heart failure and that the measurement of circulating CatK provides a noninvasive method of documenting and monitoring the extent of chronic heart failure

  3. Cathepsins in Rotator Cuff (show CUFF Antibodies) Tendinopathy: Identification in Human Chronic Tears and Temporal Induction in a Rat Model.

  4. Matrix-metalloproteinase-9 (show MMP9 Antibodies) is cleaved and activated by cathepsin K.

  5. Sequence analysis of the patient's CTSK gene revealed homozygosity for a missense mutation (c.746T>C) in exon 6, which leads to amino change (p.Ile249Thr) in the mature CTSK protein

  6. The presence of high levels of inactive proforms of cathepsin K in GBM tissues and cells indicate that in GBM the proteolytic/collagenolytic role is not its primary function but it plays rather a different yet unknown role.

  7. Two compounds have sizable effects on enzyme activity using interstitial collagen as a natural substrate of cathepsin K and four compounds show a significantly stabilizing effect on cathepsin K.

  8. Studies indicate cathepsin X as a target for improving diagnosis and treating cancer patients.

  9. SDF-1alpha is involved in homing of CXCR4 (show CXCR4 Antibodies)+ GSLCs and leukocytes and that cathepsin K and osteopontin (show SPP1 Antibodies) are involved in the migration of GSLCs out of the niches

  10. one cathepsin K molecule binds to collagen-bound glycosaminoglycans at the gap region and recruits a second protease molecule that provides an unfolding and cleavage mechanism for triple helical collagen

Pig (Porcine) Cathepsin K (CTSK) interaction partners

  1. The CTSK marker was associated with back fat thickness and lean cuts (P < 0.01), and average daily gain and feed:gain ratio (P < 0.05) estimated breeding values.

Rabbit Cathepsin K (CTSK) interaction partners

  1. The authors showed CTSK upregulation in human lung specimens and elevated serum CTSK levels of patients with tuberculosis, compared with controls.

  2. Down-regulation of cathepsin K in synovium at the initial stage of osteoarthritis significantly accelerated cartilage degeneration.

Mouse (Murine) Cathepsin K (CTSK) interaction partners

  1. The effects of muscarinic receptor (show CHRM5 Antibodies) M3 knockout on cathepsin K expression, bone density and biomechanical properties of bone are reported.

  2. Cathepsin K expression is increased in the bone of a diabetic mouse model.

  3. Data suggest Ctsk gene, key gene upregulated during osteoclast differentiation, is transcriptionally activated during cell hypoxia-induced mitochondrial dysfunction/disruption; hnRNPA2 (heterogeneous ribonucleoprotein A2) is coactivator in this process.

  4. cathepsin K knockout attenuates age-related decline in cardiac function via suppressing caspase (show CASP3 Antibodies)-dependent and caspase (show CASP3 Antibodies)-independent apoptosis

  5. Data (including data from studies in knockout/transgenic mice) suggest that Ctsk is involved in inflammatory response and bone resorption in both rheumatoid arthritis and periodontitis; thus, Ctsk appears to play a role in osteoimmune responses.

  6. In a mouse model of post-traumatic osteoarthritis, cathepsin K activity was significantly increased in injured knees relative to uninjured knees.

  7. Gene deletion of cathepsin K in mice accelerated callus size resolution, significantly increased callus mineralized mass, and improved mechanical strength as compared to wild type mice.

  8. synergism between HIV proteins and pro-atherogenic shear stress to increase endothelial cell expression of the powerful protease cathepsin K

  9. in addition to its other effects, the absence of CatK in OCP limits their ability to engraft in a repairing fracture callus compared to WT OCP.

  10. Cardiac mammalian target of rapamycin (show FRAP1 Antibodies) and extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERK (show EPHB2 Antibodies)) signaling cascades were upregulated by pressure overload, the effects of which were attenuated by cathepsin K knockout.

Cathepsin K (CTSK) Antigen Profile

Protein Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase involved in bone remodeling and resorption. This protein, which is a member of the peptidase C1 protein family, is predominantly expressed in osteoclasts. However, the encoded protein is also expressed in a significant fraction of human breast cancers, where it could contribute to tumor invasiveness. Mutations in this gene are the cause of pycnodysostosis, an autosomal recessive disease characterized by osteosclerosis and short stature.
