CD94 is a 70kD cell surface glycoprotein expressed primarily by mouse natural killer (NK) cells. The murine CD94 Molecule forms heterodimers with NKG2A, C or E subunits to form the CD94/NKG2 receptor. In mice the CD94/NKG2 receptor recognises Qa-1 b, a non-classical MHC class 1 Molecule. CD94/NKG2 receptors may play an important role in self-tolerance of NK cells during fetal and neonatal life. N.B. Recent reports suggest that DBA/2J mice do not express cell surface CD94/NKG2A receptors.Synonyms: KLRD1, KP43, Killer cell lectin-like receptor subfamily D member 1, NK cell receptor, Natural killer cells antigen CD94
