  1. In a cohort with non-small cell lung cancer, serum CEA levels were abnormally high in 54.3% of the patients. Increasing serum CEA was correlated with tumor EGFR mutation.

  2. upregulated transcription correlates with tumor size in Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer

  3. Data indicate that serum carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA) has a tendency to increase over time in patients with urinary diversion (UD) but is not a valuable marker of secondary neoplasms in these patients.

  4. Findings suggested the possible role of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) in the pathogenesis of brain invasion.

  5. CEA mRNA, CK20 mRNA, and serum CEA than patients at stages I-III.

  6. CEA acts to promote the metastatic dissemination of tumor cells. On depletion of CEA, the metastatic potential of LS174T cells is dramatically reduced.

  7. preoperative expression level is a prognostic factor in patients with stage I non-small cell lung cancer

  8. The significant expression of IMP3 and CEA in less well-differentiated foci of mucinous MDA may be helpful in the diagnosis of mucinous MDA to some extent.

  9. Vaccination with the plasmid for the triple repeated CEA peptides induced stronger Th1 responses

  10. Elevated levels of CEA are associated with pancreatic cancer and new-onset diabetes.

  11. Data show that Ad5 immune mice bearing CEA-expressing tumors that were treated with Ad5 [E1-, E2b-]-CEA had increased anti-tumor response as compared with Ad5 [E1-]-CEA treated mice.

  12. Study shows that it is possible to use ultrasound to amplify and localize the source of CEA levels in blood of tumor-bearing mice and will allow for a previously undescribed way to determine the presence and localization of disease more accurately.

  13. results from transgenic mouse models up-regulated indicate non-mutated adhesion molecules could have a significant instrumental role in human cancer

CEA Antigen Profile

Antigen Summary

The human pregnancy-specific glycoproteins (PSGs) are a family of proteins that are synthesized in large amounts by placental trophoblasts and released into the maternal circulation during pregnancy. Molecular cloning and analysis of several PSG genes has indicated that the PSGs form a subgroup of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene family, which belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily of genes. Members of the CEA family consist of a single N domain, with structural similarity to the immunoglobulin variable domains, followed by a variable number of immunoglobulin constant-like A and/or B domains. Most PSGs have an arg-gly-asp (RGD) motif, which has been shown to function as an adhesion recognition signal for several integrins, in the N-terminal domain (summary by Teglund et al., 1994
