Human Galanin-Like Peptide (GALP) interaction partners

  1. alarin in different human intestinal epithelial cell types

  2. The present study provides the evidence that circulating Alarin levels are associated with metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance.

  3. results indicated that obese individuals have higher plasma GAL and GALP concentrations and both peptide concentrations were positively correlative to triglyceride concentrations in obese human

  4. One isoform (alarin) of this gene but not the other (galanin-like peptide) displays antimicrobial activity against E. coli.

  5. This review presents considerable evidence that has accumulated implicating both galanin and GALP as playing important roles in regulating food and water intake behavior and related neuroendocrine functions.

  6. describes cloning of the full-length human GALP

  7. describes the gene structure of human GALP.

  8. reports immunostaining of human GALP in the dermal microvasculature.

Mouse (Murine) Galanin-Like Peptide (GALP) interaction partners

  1. this study demonstrates anti-obesity effect of intranasal administration of galanin-like peptide in obese mice

  2. we investigated whether PI3K signalling in neurones expressing GALP plays a role in the transcriptional regulation of the GALP gene

  3. results indicate the GALP ICV administration can further promote energy metabolism when administered to spontaneously exercising mice

  4. Distinct expression of alarin, a splice variant of GALP, in the adult mouse brain demonstrates potential functions in reproduction and metabolism.

  5. hypothalamic GALP gene expression is controlled by leptin signals

  6. GALP induces expression of IL-1 in the brain, and its anorexic and febrile actions are mediated by this cytokine acting via IL-1 type I receptor.

  7. GALP may play a role in readjusting energy balance under changing nutritional circumstances

Pig (Porcine) Galanin-Like Peptide (GALP) interaction partners

  1. The association analysis with litter size traits showed that at both loci CC and GG genotypes were different for NBA for all parities in DIV pigs (P < 0.05). However, two SNPs were not in significant linkage disequilibrium

  2. 2D-NMR and circular dichroism spectroscopy demonstrate that GALP does not adopt a preferred conformation in pure water alone, but shows characteristics of transient turn-like structures in two distinct regions

GALP Antigen Profile

Antigen Summary

This gene encodes a member of the galanin family of neuropeptides. The encoded protein binds galanin receptors 1, 2 and 3 with the highest affinity for galanin receptor 3 and has been implicated in biological processes involving the central nervous system including hypothalamic regulation of metabolism and reproduction. A peptide encoded by a splice variant of this gene, termed alarin, may have vasoactive properties and serve as a marker for neuroblastic tumors.
