Human Glutathione S-Transferase alpha 3 (GSTA3) interaction partners

  1. Certain core genes, including COL12A1, glutathione Stransferase alpha3 (GSTA3), fibrinogen alpha chain (FGA) and fibrinogen gamma chain (FGG), were the first reported to be associated with Gastric Cancer. Survival analysis suggested that these four genes, COL12A1 (P=0.002), GSTA3 (P=3.4x106), FGA (P=0.00075) and FGG (P=1.4x105), were significant poor prognostic factors of gastric cancer.

  2. GSTA3 expression is significantly downregulated in human masticatory mucosa during wound healing

  3. Density functional theory calculations used to propose a refined mechanism for the isomerization of delta(5)-androstene-3,17-dione catalyzed by GST A3-3

  4. analysis of how isomerization of the steroid Delta(5)-androstene-3,17-dione by the glutathione transferase A3-3

  5. Data indicate that steroidogenic factor 1 (SF-1) and glutathione S-transferase A (GSTA) family genes (hGSTA1-hGSTA4) are involved in steroidogenesis.

  6. The 3D structures of human GSTs A2-2 and A3-3 in complex with Delta(4)-androstene-3-17-dione, were solved.

  7. describe an I71L polymorphism in GSTA3 that occurs at a low frequency in African populations

  8. Analysis of the active centers of hGSTA3-3 reveals that residues in positions 12 and 208 may contribute to its disparate isomerase activity toward Delta(5)-AD.

  9. Significantly contributes to the double-bond isomerization necessary for steroid hormone biosynthesis in complex systems, thereby complementing the indispensable 3beta-hydroxysteroid oxidoreductase activity of 3beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase.

Mouse (Murine) Glutathione S-Transferase alpha 3 (GSTA3) interaction partners

  1. aflatoxin B1 induces cholangiocarcinomas in GSTA3-/- mice

  2. There were no significant compensatory changes in KO mice GST subunits, GST enzymatic activity, epoxide hydrolase, or CYP1A2 and CYP3A11 levels. Finally, there was a modest increase in F2-isoprostane and isofuran in KO mice that confirmed putative GSTA3 hydroperoxidase activity in vivo for the first time.

  3. Reporter gene assays demonstrated that mouse GSTA3 5(')-upstream region is activated by 15-deoxy-Delta(12,14)-prostaglandin J2 through an antioxidant response element, and that this may be involved in regulating GSTA3 expression during adipogenesis.

Glutathione S-Transferase alpha 3 (GSTA3) Antigen Profile

Antigen Summary

Cytosolic and membrane-bound forms of glutathione S-transferase are encoded by two distinct supergene families. These enzymes are involved in cellular defense against toxic, carcinogenic, and pharmacologically active electrophilic compounds. At present, eight distinct classes of the soluble cytoplasmic mammalian glutathione S-transferases have been identified: alpha, kappa, mu, omega, pi, sigma, theta and zeta. This gene encodes a glutathione S-tranferase belonging to the alpha class genes that are located in a cluster mapped to chromosome 6. Genes of the alpha class are highly related and encode enzymes with glutathione peroxidase activity. However, during evolution, this alpha class gene diverged accumulating mutations in the active site that resulted in differences in substrate specificity and catalytic activity. The enzyme encoded by this gene catalyzes the double bond isomerization of precursors for progesterone and testosterone during the biosynthesis of steroid hormones. An additional transcript variant has been identified, but its full length sequence has not been determined.
