The expression of claudin-11 (show CLDN11 ELISA Kits), -23 was remarkably downregulated in gastric cancer.
The present study demonstrated an epigenetic link between the activity of the EZH2 (show EZH2 ELISA Kits) methyltransferase at the CLDN23 locus and the expression of CLDN23 in CRC (show CALR ELISA Kits) tissue.
Down-regulation of CLDN23 is associated with colorectal cancer.
Human CLDN23, showing 79.5% total-amino-acid identity with mouse Cldn23, is a four-transmembrane protein with WWCC motif, defined by W-X(17-22)-W-X(2)-C-X(8-10)-C.
Report on identification and characterization of human CLDN23.
This gene encodes a member of the claudin family. Claudins are integral membrane proteins and components of tight junction strands. Tight junction strands serve as a physical barrier to prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space between epithelial or endothelial cell sheets, and also play critical roles in maintaining cell polarity and signal transductions. This gene is intronless and the protein encoded by this gene is 77% identical to the human homolog.
