- Background
- TAGLN2, also known transgelin 2, is one of the earliest markers of differentiated smooth muscle. This protein contains a calponin like repeat and a calponin-homology (CH) domain. It is downregulated in several transformed cell lines, indicating that a reduction of transgelin expression may be an early indicator of the onset of transformation. It also binds actin, causing actin fibers to gel within minutes of binding. Binding of transgelin to actin occurs at a ratio of 1:6 actin monomers. Recombinant human TAGLN2 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography. Synonyms: Transgelin-2, HA1756, KIAA0120.
