  3. Data show that although CD70 is required for the activation of the antiviral adaptive response, it has a regulatory role in early cytokine responses to viruses such as MCMV, possibly through maintenance of Treg survival and function.

  4. the ability of CD70 to trigger costimulation is self-regulated when it binds its complementary receptor.

  5. under conditions of constitutive CD70 expression reflecting chronic immune activation, the CD27 (show CD27 Proteins)/CD70 system inhibits OC differentiation and favors DC differentiation

  6. mTECs and DCs form dedicated niches in the thymic medulla, in which CD27 (show CD27 Proteins)-CD70 co-stimulation rescues developing Treg cells from apoptosis, subsequent to Foxp3 (show FOXP3 Proteins) induction by TCR and CD28 (show CD28 Proteins) signals.

  7. Expression of CD70 by B cells aggravates experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis by reducing the number of regulatory T cells.

  8. CD70-deficient mice infected with lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus produced only half as many T8 cells. Viral clearance was substantially delayed. CD70-mediated costimulation is not required for secondary or T4 responses.

  7. These results indicate that CD27 (show CD27 Proteins) and CD70 gene polymorphisms may affect the risk of breast cancer and show that some SNPs are associated with breast cancer characteristics in a northern Chinese population.

  8. The mean expression of CD70 was almost twice as high in renal cell carcinoma (show MOK Proteins) relative to normal kidney tissue

  9. Regulation of Langerhans cell CD70 expression is important in enhancing immunity against cutaneous epithelial pathogens and cancer.

  10. Findings suggest that demethylation of CD70 promoter region contributes to the overexpression of CD70 in CD4 (show CD4 Proteins)+ T cells and may contribute to autoimmune response in systemic sclerosis (SSc (show CYP11A1 Proteins)).

CD70 Protein Profile

Protein Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. This cytokine is a ligand for TNFRSF27/CD27. It is a surface antigen on activated, but not on resting, T and B lymphocytes. It induces proliferation of costimulated T cells, enhances the generation of cytolytic T cells, and contributes to T cell activation. This cytokine is also reported to play a role in regulating B-cell activation, cytotoxic function of natural killer cells, and immunoglobulin sythesis.
