Description: Periostin is a disulfide linked 90 kDa 811 amno acid protein originally isolated as aosteoblast-specific factor that functions as a cell adhesion molecule for preosteoblastsand is thought to be involved in osteoblast recruitment, attachment and spreading. Additionally, periostin expression has previously been shown to be significantly increasedby both transforming growth factor beta-1(TGFbeta1) and bone morphogenetic protein(BMP)-2. OSF-2 has a typical signal sequence, followed by a cysteine-rich domain, afourfold repeated domain and a C-terminal domain. The fourfold repeated domain of OSF-2shows homology with the insect protein fasciclin. Periostin mRNA is expressed in thedeveloping mouse embryonic and fetal heart, and that it is localized to the endocardialcushions that ultimately divide the primitive heart tube into a four-chambered heart.

Application Details

Application Notes: ELISA. Western blot (0.1-1 µg/ml). Immunohistochemistry on Paraffin (1/100-1/5,000) and Frozen Sections. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

Buffer: 0.05 M Phosphate Buffer, 0.1 M NaCl, pH 7.2 without preservatives.Reconstitution: Add 0.05 ml of deionized water and let the lyophilized pellet dissolvecompletely. Slight turbidity may occur after reconstitution, which does not affect activity ofthe antib

Storage: Store lyophilized antibody at -20°C. Following reconstitution the antibody can be stored at 2-8°C for up to two weeks. For longer storage aliquot and store frozen at -20°C to -80°C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf life: one year from despatch.
