Description
C1q associates with proenzymes C1r and C1s to form the calcium-dependent C1 complex, the first component of the serum complement system. C1q is composed of six A, sixB-chains and six C-polypeptide chains. Each chain contains a collagen-like region locatednear the N-terminus and a C-terminal globular region. These regions bind the Fc region ofIgM and IgG molecules, initiating the classical pathway of complement activation. C1qdeficiency has been associated with lupus erythematosus and glomerulonephritis.
Specificity
This antibody recognises human complement component 1, q subcomponent (C1q), a156kDa secreted protein. Species Reactivity: Tested: Human.

Application Notes
ELISA. Flow Cytometry. Immunohistochemistry on Frozen Sections: It has been reported that this antibody worksvery well on acetone-fixed, frozen renal biopsies at a dilution of 1/500-1/600. Strongstaining was observed in the glomeruli and in some cases the peritubular capillary(potentially clinically significant). Recommended Positive Control: Kidney tissue from patients with streptococalglomerulonephritis. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
