It is formed in a non-enzymatic glycation pathway by hemoglobin's exposure to plasma glucose. The non - glycosylated hemoglobin, which consists of the bulk ofhemoglobin, has been designated HbAo.

Specificity: This antibody is reactive with Hemoglobin A1C and may crossreact with other related hemoglobin fragments.
