Description
Granulocytes are a type of white blood cell filled with microscopic granules that are littlesacs containing enzymes, compounds that digest microorganisms. They are part of theinnate immune system and have somewhat nonspecific, broad-based activity. They do notrespond exclusively to specific antigens, as do B-cells and T-cells. Neutrophils, eosinophils and basophils are all types of granulocytes. They are named bythe staining features of their granules in the laboratory: Neutrophils have neutral subtlegranules, Eosinophils have prominent granules that stain readily with the acid dye eosin, and Basophils have prominent granules that stain readily basic (non acidic) dyes.

Specificity
This antibody specifically recognises Porcine Eosinophils, Neutrophils and Basophils, acting as a reliable tool for their analysis and isolation, without contamination from othercells. Analysis of Porcine bone marrow and blood shows that the antigen recognised by clone2B2 is selectively expressed on mature cells, and that it is likely to be a labileconformational epitope. Use of clone 2B2 in conjunction with clone 6D10 (product ABIN317009), allows for thediscrimination and characterisation of different porcine granulocyte lineages and also theirdevelopmental stages: 6D10- 2B2- early myeloid precursors, 6D10+2B2- immatureneutrophils, 6D10+2B2+ mature neutrophils and 6D10-2B2+ mature Eosinophils andBasophils. Clone 2B2 has been shown as suitable for use on cytospins. (1)Species Reactivity: Tested: Pig.
