Description
Catalase peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.7) is a bifunctional antioxidant enzyme encodedby the katG-gene. It exhibits both, catalase and peroxidase activity which providesa protection against oxidative stress by neutralising hydrogen peroxide. Theenzyme is present in a number of bacterial taxa, including cyanobacteria.

Specificity
Predicted reactivity: Synechococcus sp. including PCC 7302 and S.elongatus (PCC 6301, PCC 7942),other bacteria.
