Description
|
LDB3 (LIM domain-binding protein 3) may function as an adapter in striated muscle tocouple protein kinase C-mediated signaling via its LIM domains to the cytoskeleton. Itinteractes with various PKC isoforms and with the C-terminal region of ACTN2 via its LIMand PDZ domains respectively. It also interacts with MYOZ1, MYOZ2 and MYOZ3. 6 isoformsare produced by alternative splicing. Defects in LDB3 are a cause of dilatedcardiomyopathy 1A, a disorder characterized by cardiac dilation and reduced systolicfunction, as well as ZASP-related myofibrillar myopathy, an autosomal dominant myopathythat is characterized by distal muscle weakness with signs of cardiomyopathy andneuropathy.
