Description
|
Leucomalachite Green is a by-product of Malachite Green a dye extensively used to treatfungal infections in fish. The dye persists as Leucomalachite Green in the tissues of fishand has been reported to cause carcinogenesis, mutagenesis, chromosomal fractures,teratogenicity, and respiratory toxicity. MRLs for Malachite Green have not been set by theEuropean Union, Canada, the USA or Japan. The European Union has introduced MRPLs forbanned substances, and has set a minimum detection limit for Malachite Green assays of2 ppb for the sum of Malachite Green and Leucomalachite Green in the meat ofaquaculture products.
