Additional Information

Characteristics Synonyms: Morphine 6, (5a, 6a)-7, 8-didehydro-4, 5-epoxy-17-methylmorphinan-3, 6-diol
Immunogen Morphine (6)-BSA
Isotype IgG  (Matching secondary antibodies)
Description Morphine is thought to produce reinforcement phenomena via stimulation of mu, delta, and kappa opioid receptors that regulate stress perception, pain control, reward behavior, and neurohormone secretion in reward-relevant brain systems. It has the highest affinityfor mu, followed by delta and kappa. Rapid activation of the mu opioid receptor bymorphine results in a euphoric phenotype, thus conferring the reinforcing effects of thedrug. This activation is accompanied by extracellular dopamine release, which altersseveral events related to the cAMP signal transduction pathway. Of particular significanceis that CREB seems to be modified by morphine, thereby affecting addictive behavioralphenomena, such as withdrawal symptoms.
Specificity This antibody reacts to Morphine (6).
