Factor VIIa (FVIIa) is a key serine protease involved in the initiation of thecoagulation cascade. FVIIa requires tissue factor (TF), a membrane boundprotein, as an essential cofactor for maximal activity towards its biologicalsubstrates Factor X, Factor IX and Factor VII (FVII).
