    Specificity

The antibody reacts with Human J chain as tested by ELISA using purified Human Ig fragments as the solid phase target antigen. The antibody does not detect J chain in intact IgM in ELISA assays due to steric hindrance. In Western blotting techniques SM1013P detects J chain in IgM only in reducing conditions.

    Purification

    Affinity Chromatography on Protein A.

    Immunogen

Human J Chain. Remarks: Spleen cells from immunised BALB/c mice were fused with cells of the mouse NS1 myeloma cell line.
  • Application Notes

Immunohistochemistry on Frozen Sections (1/200). ELISA (20 μg/mL). Immunoprecipitation (20 μg/mL). Western blotting (only under Reducing Conditions).
    Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

    Restrictions

    For Research Use only
  • Concentration

    1.0 mg/mL

    Buffer

TRIS buffered Saline containing 0.09 % Sodium Azide as preservative.

    Preservative

    Sodium azide

    Precaution of Use

WARNING: Reagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide-containing compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.

    Handling Advice

    Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

    Storage

    4 °C/-20 °C

    Storage Comment

Store the antibody undiluted at 2-8 °C for one month or (in aliquots) at -28 °C for longer.

    Alternative Name

    Immunoglobulin J Chain

    Background

Immunoglobulin J chain (IGJ) serves to link two monomer units of either IgM or IgA. In the case of IgM, the J chain joined dimer is a nucleating unit for the IgM pentamer, and in the case of IgA it induces larger polymers. It also helps to bind these immunoglobulins to secretory components.Synonyms: IGCJ, IGJ
