  1. In experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis treated with interferon-beta (show IFNB1 Proteins), OPN (show SPP1 Proteins) was significantly decreased in splenocyte supernatants. Neutralizing OPN (show SPP1 Proteins) antibodies offset the inhibitory effect of IFN-beta (show IFNB1 Proteins) on Th17 cells. IFN-beta (show IFNB1 Proteins) influenced the acetylation of the Opn (show SPP1 Proteins) gene promoter. IFN-beta (show IFNB1 Proteins) plays a role in Th17 differentiation partly through the inhibition of OPN (show SPP1 Proteins).

  2. Osteopontin (show SPP1 Proteins) plays a key role in vascular smooth muscle cell via signaling pathways involving AP-1 (show JUN Proteins) and C/EBP beta (show CEBPB Proteins), leading to increases in vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation and subsequent vascular remodeling.

  3. we disclosed the role of chemotaxis and apoptosis in the fibrotic microenvironment-enhanced seeding of tumor cells and identified the fibroblast-derived FN1 (show FN1 Proteins) and SPP1 (show SPP1 Proteins) as the central mediators in these processes

  4. Data show that, together, osteocalcin (OC (show BGLAP Proteins)) and osteopontin (OPN (show SPP1 Proteins)) play important roles in determining bone size, shape, and strength.

  5. Data indicate that BSP (show KLK6 Proteins) is present in the calcified fibrocartilage of murine entheses and suggest that BSP (show KLK6 Proteins) plays a regulatory role in this structure, influencing the growth of the calcified fibrocartilage in addition to the weakening of the tendon mechanical properties.

  6. AMPK (show PRKAA1 Proteins) was sufficient to stimulate osteogenesis of MC3T3-E1 cells and inhibit adipogenesis of 3T3-L1 cells through the AMPK (show PRKAA1 Proteins)-Gfi1 (show ZNF163 Proteins)-OPN (show SPP1 Proteins) axis.

  7. Excess osteopontin (show SPP1 Proteins) exacerbated sarcolemmal injury, and correspondingly, that loss of osteopontin (show SPP1 Proteins) reduced injury extent both in isolated myofibers and in muscle.

  8. A MMP-9-cleaved OPN fragment, OPN-32kDa, was responsible for inducing expansion of myeloid-derived suppressor cells, which may contribute to 3LL tumor's evasion of the immune response.

  9. OPN (show SPP1 Proteins) played a critical role in activating the migration of Mesenchymal stem cells to injured sites and their differentiation into specific skin cell types during skin wound healing.

  10. Findings demonstrate that claudin-low mammary tumor cells rely on OPN (show SPP1 Proteins) for proliferation, survival and migration as knockdown of OPN (show SPP1 Proteins) using siRNA inhibited proliferation and migration while increasing apoptosis.

  1. These data indicate that secretome derived from salivary gland cancer cells can influence the expression of two potential biomarkers of oral cancer-namely, bone sialoprotein (show CRISP1 Proteins) (BSP (show KLK6 Proteins)) and dentin sialoprotein (DSP (show DSPP Proteins))-in normal salivary gland cells.

  2. In conclusion, serum levels of BSP, ALP, ICTP, and PSA increased in patients with bone metastases, and combined detection of all markers could improve the positive-predictive value.

  3. Preameloblast-Derived Factors Mediate Osteoblast Differentiation of Human Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells by Runx2 (show RUNX2 Proteins)-Osterix (show SP7 Proteins)-BSP (show KLK6 Proteins) Signaling.

  4. Two significant SNPs within IBSP, rs1054627 and rs17013181, were associated with BMD (show BEST1 Proteins) and postmenopausal osteoporosis by the two-stage strategy, and rs17013181 was also significantly associated with serum IBSP levels.

  5. Our results suggest that SSEA (show MPST Proteins)-4 is a specific cell surface antigen (show CD53 Proteins) that can be used to identify dental pulp stem cells.

  6. the strong correlation between bone sialoprotein (show CRISP1 Proteins) and OPN (show SPP1 Proteins) and papillary thyroid carcinoma suggests a role for BSP (show KLK6 Proteins) and OPN (show SPP1 Proteins) in calcification and tumor progression of papillary thyroid carcinoma

  7. oxidized low-density lipoprotein-induced expression dependent on Runx2 (show RUNX2 Proteins) expression

  8. Bone sialoprotein (show CRISP1 Proteins) could be a key mediator of the hypertrophic chondrocytes-induced angiogenesis of osteoarthritis.

  9. Current evidence demonstrates that BSP (show KLK6 Proteins) and OPN (show SPP1 Proteins), play significant roles in bone metastasis of osteotropic malignancies derived from breast, prostate, lung, thyroid, and multiple myeloma. [review]

  10. High expression of bone sialoprotein (show CRISP1 Proteins) in breast neoplasms was associated with cytokeratin (show KRT4 Proteins)-positive cells in bone marrow, but not with lymph node metastasis.

Integrin-Binding Sialoprotein (IBSP) Protein Profile

Protein Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a major structural protein of the bone matrix. It constitutes approximately 12% of the noncollagenous proteins in human bone and is synthesized by skeletal-associated cell types, including hypertrophic chondrocytes, osteoblasts, osteocytes, and osteoclasts. The only extraskeletal site of its synthesis is the trophoblast. This protein binds to calcium and hydroxyapatite via its acidic amino acid clusters, and mediates cell attachment through an RGD sequence that recognizes the vitronectin receptor.
