  3. Our results suggest that the IL-33/ST2 pathway is important for eosinophilic inflammation but redundant for airway hyperreactivity and mucus production. The combined action of IL-33 and TSLP is essential for maintenance of airway hyperreactivity and goblet cell metaplasia during the chronic phase of experimental asthma.

  4. The S aureus-derived protein SplD is a potent allergen of S aureus and induces a TH2-biased inflammatory response in the airways in an IL-33-dependent but TRL4-independent manner. The soluble ST2 receptor could be an efficient strategy to interfere with SplD-induced TH2 inflammation but does not prevent the allergic sensitization.

  5. ST2 deficiency leads to IFN-gamma expression and boosts the bacterial killing activity of macrophages against S. aureus.

  6. results collectively suggest that the IL-33/ST2 axis mediates the activation of innate immune responses and contributes to urothelial hyperplasia by regulating urothelial differentiation in obstructive kidney injury.

  9. sST2 is downregulated in high-metastatic cells compared with low-metastatic human and mouse CRC cells. Knockdown of sST2 in low-metastatic cells enhances tumour growth, metastasis and tumour angiogenesis, whereas its overexpression in high-metastatic cells suppresses these processes.

  10. IL-33/ST2 can induce production of proinflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-alpha and IL-6, through production of IL-13 in Plasmodium chabaudi-infected BALB/c mice, suggesting that IL-33/ST2 play a critical role in inflammatory responses to malaria infection.

  11. these results provide new insights into the mechanisms by which intestinal epithelial cells , via IL-33/ST2 axis, may control pro-inflammatory TH17 cells in the small intestine to sustain homeostasis

  12. Results indicate that IL-33/ST2 signaling is functionally present in primary sensory neurons and contributes to pruritus in poison ivy ACD. Blocking IL-33/ST2 signaling may represent a therapeutic approach to ameliorate itch and skin inflammation related to poison ivy allergic contact dermatitis.

  20. Liver Treg cells show a high expression of ST2, a cellular receptor for tissue alarmin IL-33, which is strongly upregulated in the liver of infected mice. These results illustrate the importance of IL-33 in the suppressive function of liver Treg cells during Cytomegaloviruses (CMVs) infection.

  2. Study found that the IL-33 and soluble ST2 (sST2) were upregulated in early HIV-infected patients and has a trend associated with disease progression. Anti-ST2 antibodies attenuated the effect of IL-33 to CD4+ and CD8+T cells. Elevated expression of IL-33 in early HIV infection has the potential to enhance the function of T cells, but the upregulated sST2 weakens the activity of IL-33.

  3. Circulating sST2 levels are be increased in acute ischemic stroke and are associated with disease severity.

  4. The lungs are a relevant source of sST2 in heart failure, shich may have implications for disease progression.

  8. Results show that the genetic variant rs6543115 in the distal IL1RL1 promoter confers susceptibility to ulcerative colitis (UC) as well as increased soluble ST2 expression.

  9. ST-2 is increased in diabetic patients with acute heart failure and increased cardiovascular stiffness and impaired left ventricular filling seem to be the most important causative factors.

  10. Among patients with suspected aortic dissection in the emergency department, sST2 showed superior overall diagnostic performance to D-dimer or cardiac troponin I.

  11. In patients with a first STEMI treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention, soluble ST2 predicts dynamic changes in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging-derived left ventricular volumes.

IL1RL1 Antigen Profile

Protein Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the interleukin 1 receptor family. Studies of the similar gene in mouse suggested that this receptor can be induced by proinflammatory stimuli, and may be involved in the function of helper T cells. This gene, interleukin 1 receptor, type I (IL1R1), interleukin 1 receptor, type II (IL1R2) and interleukin 1 receptor-like 2 (IL1RL2) form a cytokine receptor gene cluster in a region mapped to chromosome 2q12. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants.
