    Background
PCMT1, also known as L-isoaspartyl protein carboxyl methyltransferase, is an enzyme that catalyses the methyl esterification of L-isoaspartyl and D-aspartyl residues in peptides and proteins that result from spontaneous decomposition of normal L-aspartyl and L-asparaginyl residues. This protein plays a role in the repair and/or degradation of damaged proteins. Recombinant human PCMT1 protien, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques. Synonyms: , Protein-L-isoaspartate O-methyltransferase L isoaspartyl protein carboxyl methyltransferase, L isoaspartyl/D aspartyl methyltransferase, PCMT 1, PIMT, Protein beta aspartate methyltransferase, Protein L isoaspartate (D aspartate) O methyltransferase, Protein L isoaspartyl/D aspartyl methyltransferase,.
