The presence of S100A7 in the Fallopian tube and its localization at the apical surface of epithelial cells
overexpression of S100A7 in A431 skin squamous carcinoma cells significantly promoted cell proliferation in vitro and tumor growth in vivo, whereas it suppressed the expression of GATA-3 (show GATA3 Antibodies) and caspase-14 (show CASP14 Antibodies)
S100A7 acts as a dual regulator in promoting proliferation and suppressing squamous differentiation of squamous cell carcinomas.
The distinct modulations of the NF-kappaB (show NFKB1 Antibodies) - miR (show MLXIP Antibodies)-29b - p53 (show TP53 Antibodies) pathway make S100A7 an oncogene (show RAB1A Antibodies).
S100A7 also promotes secretion of IL-6 (show IL6 Antibodies) and IL-8 (show IL8 Antibodies).
The antimicrobial peptides psoriasin (S100A7) and koebnerisin (S100A15 (show S100A14 Antibodies)) suppress extracellular matrix production and proliferation of human fibroblasts
Our present results suggest that S100A7 level is a promising tool for diagnosis of lung squamous cell carcinoma. Knockdown of S100A7 suppresses lung cancer growth
present a novel signalling mechanism by which IL-17A (show IL17A Antibodies) can induce Egr-1 (show EGR1 Antibodies)-dependent psoriasin expression via the ERK (show EPHB2 Antibodies) pathway in keratinocytes
found that RAGE (show AGER Antibodies)/S100A7 conditioned the tumor microenvironment by driving the recruitment of MMP9 (show MMP9 Antibodies)-positive tumor-associated macrophages
The antimicrobial peptide (show cAMP Antibodies) psoriasin has immunoregulatory activities and is involved in skin innate immunity.
Psoriasin appears to be a part of the local host defence mechanisms in the udder and seems to be inducible by infection with E. coli.
Although present in boar seminal vesicles and seminal plasma, S100A7 was not detected in female porcine organs.
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100 genes include at least 13 members which are located as a cluster on chromosome 1q21. This protein differs from the other S100 proteins of known structure in its lack of calcium binding ability in one EF-hand at the N-terminus. This protein is markedly over-expressed in the skin lesions of psoriatic patients, but is excluded as a candidate gene for familial psoriasis susceptibility. The exact function of this protein is not known.
