Avidin [Hen Egg White].
Description
The biological function of avidin is not known. It is a homotetrameric glycoprotein found inchicken egg white, and forms a strong non covalent specific complex with biotin (onemolecule of biotin per subunit of avidin).
Specificity
This product was prepared from monospecific antiserum by delipidation, salt fractionationand ion exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis against the buffer statedabove. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-RabbitSerum and anti-Avidin. No reaction was observed against Streptavidin.
Application Notes
Suitable for Immunomicroscopy and Flow cytometry or FACS analysis as well as otherantibody based fluorescent assays requiring lot-to-lot consistency. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
