Description
The matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) are a family of peptidase enzymes responsible forthe degradation of extracellular matrix components, including collagen, gelatin, fibronectin, laminin and proteoglycan. Transcription of MMP genes is differentiallyactivated by phorbol ester, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB). MMP catalysis requires both calcium and zinc. MMP-12 may contribute to elastindegradation occurring in granulomatous skin diseases and may also participate inmacrophage migration through the epidermal and vascular basement membranes ininflammatory disorders.
Specificity
The antibody recognizes the MMP-12. Species: Human and Mouse. Others not tested. Add. Information: Blocking peptide (ABIN127324) is available separately.
Application Notes
Western Blot: 0.5-4.0 µg/ml. Mouse small intestine tissue lysate can be used as a Positive Control. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
