Characteristics Synonyms: CAMKA, KIAA0968, CaM-kinase II alpha chain, CaM kinase II subunit alpha, CaMK-IIsubunit alpha, Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II alpha chain
Swiss-Prot Q9UQM7
Immunogen The antiserum was produced against synthesized phosphopeptide derived from HumanCaMKII around the phosphorylation site of Threonine 286 (Q-E-Tp-V-D).
Cross-Reactivity Human, Mouse (Murine), Rat (Rattus)
Description CaMKII (Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II) is a ubiquitous serine/threonineprotein kinase that is abundant in the brain as a major constituent of the postsynapticdensity (PSD). The enzyme is an oligomeric protein composed of distinct but relatedsubunits, alpha, beta, gamma, and delta, each encoded by a separate gene. CAMK2Aassembles into heterooligomeric complexes with other CAMK2 subunits. CaMKII is a prominent kinase in the central nervous system that may function in long termpotentiation and neurotransmitter release.
Specificity This antibody detects endogenous levels of CaMKII only when phosphorylated at Threonine286. Species: Human, Mouse and Rat. Others not tested.
