Background: POU3F3, also known as Brn1, is a member of the POU family of transcription factors that is predominantly expressed in the brain. It contains a characteristic POU domain and a homeobox DNA-binding domain. POU3F3 plays a role in the development of the brain and kidney by upregulating transcription of key genes in these tissues.
