| Description | Signal transmission between cells is often regulated by the secretion of neurotransmitters or hormones into the extracellular space. This process is controlled by a complex pathway of membrane trafficking which leads to membrane fusion and secretion. Syntaxin 1 is involved in three important complexes that modulate the secretion process: syntaxin and n-sec-1, syntaxin, VAMP, and SNAP-25, and syntaxin, VAMP, SNAP-25, alphaSNAP, and NSF (20S complex). Syntaxin 6 is a 255 amino acid member of the syntaxin family. It contains a C-terminal transmembrane domain and is located at the Golgi apparatus. In addition, Syntaxin 6 displays significant (47% identity) homology with SNAP-25. In vitro, Syntaxin 6 has been reported to interact with alpha-SNAP. Syntaxin 6 has been reported to have a calculated molecular weight of 30.6 kDa, but has been observed to migrate in a range inbetween ~ 31-35 kDa. |
| Characteristics |
1. Since applications vary, each investigator should titrate the reagent to obtain optimal results. 2. Please refer to us for technical protocols. 3. Caution: Sodium azide yields highly toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in plumbing. 4. Source of all serum proteins is from USDA inspected abattoirs located in the United States. |
