CHIT1 might be considered as a circulating biomarker in polycythemia vera (show IGF2BP3 Antibodies). Additional studies are needed to clarify the role of CHIT1 in promoting disease progression and bone marrow fibrosis in polycythemia vera (show IGF2BP3 Antibodies).
Data suggest that up-regulation of amniotic fluid chitotriosidase may serve as prenatal diagnostic biomarker for lysosomal storage disorders, more specifically for Gaucher and Niemann-Pick A/B diseases; these findings appear to result from gene duplication. This study was conducted in India.
Circulating chitotriosidase is a test which can potentially be used for the monitoring of critical limb ischemia patients without other inflammatory conditions.
All patients with NPC1 (show NPC1 Antibodies) mutations had high ChT (show ChT Antibodies) activity, high CCL18/PARC concentrations and/or Niemann-Pick disease type C suspicion index scores >/=70.
The total allele frequency of the dup24bp in the CHIT1 gene in the Ukrainian population was determined, which amounted to 0.26 (323/1244) that is higher than in the Western European population.
the two variations of CHIT1, rs61745299 and rs35920428, increase expression of the gene and are associated with colorectal cancer in Chinese Han populations
SCD (show SCD Antibodies) children are at risk of developing premature atherogenic changes. Plasma chitotriosidase and CIMT may represent useful predictors of these changes.
chitotriosidase as a possible chronic inflammation marker in children with common variable immunodeficiency and early atherosclerosis
Processivity and the rate constant of dissociation of Human chitotriosidase (HCHT (show ChT Antibodies)) were found to be in-between those, characteristic to processive exo (show PHM Antibodies)-enzymes, like SmChiA and randomly acting non-processive endo-enzymes, like SmChiC. Apart from increasing the affinity for chitin, CBM had no major effect on kinetic properties of HCHT (show ChT Antibodies).
PMA stimulation and preincubation with rhDNase increased CHIT-1 activity in culture supernatants from non-CF and CF donors.Stimulation of isolated leucocytes with PMA and treatment with rhDNase interfered with anti-fungal defence mechanisms.
No significant differences were observed between experimental autoimmune encephalitis and control groups for CHIT-1 expression.
CHIT1 exerts protective effects against atherosclerosis by suppressing inflammatory responses and polarizing macrophages toward an M2 phenotype, and promoting lipid uptake and cholesterol efflux in macrophages.
findings showed chitotriosidase, but not AMCase (show CHIA Antibodies), is expressed in trachea, bronchi & peripheral lung tissue; chitotriosidase gene was identified; results indicate the involvement of chitotriosidase in recurrent airway obstruction is uncertain
Chitotriosidase is secreted by activated human macrophages and is markedly elevated in plasma of Gaucher disease patients. The expression of chitotriosidase occurs only at a late stage of differentiation of monocytes to activated macrophages in culture. Human macrophages can synthesize a functional chitotriosidase, a highly conserved enzyme with a strongly regulated expression. This enzyme may play a role in the degradation of chitin-containing pathogens. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described for this gene.
