Hypermethylation of RASSF1A gene is associated with Colon Cancer.
Data show that silencing DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1 (show DNMT1 Proteins)) increased expression of tumor suppressor genes, RASSF1A and DAPK (show DAPK1 Proteins), in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) cells and ESCC xenograft in nude mice.
Describe a novel interaction between Rheb and the tumor suppressor RASSF1A. This interaction may allow coordinate upregulation of Hippo while TOR is suppressed to modulate the balance of apoptosis and autophagy in lung tumor cells.
Nine of the 32 (28.1%) iCCA (show PRRT2 Proteins) patients had gene mutations at chromosome 3p, totaling 11 mutations across five genes. Those included five (15.6%) BAP1 (show RNF2 Proteins) mutations, two each (6.3%) of CACNA2D3 (show CACNA2D3 Proteins) and RASSF1 mutations, and one each (3.1%) of ATG7 (show ATG7 Proteins) and PLCD1 (show PLCD1 Proteins) mutations. Six (18.8%) cases had concurrent loss of chromosome 3p and gene mutations.
Gestational age-dependent increase of hypermethylated RASSF1A; the fetal specific epigenetic marker in maternal plasma was demonstrated, in an Indian study group of normal pregnant women.
the RASSF1 gene polymorphism influences molecular carcinogenesis and clinic pathological features of hepatocellular carcinoma within the Egyptian population
We report for the first time that RASSF1A promoter methylation provides significant prognostic information in high-grade serous ovarian cancer patients.
The main finding of this study was the significant association between RASSF1A promoter methylation and increased EC risk.
Data suggest that the overexpression of DNMT3B4 may play an important role in human kidney tumorigenesis through chromosomal instability and methylation of RASSF1A.
Methylation status of the RASSF1A gene promoter was strongly related to melanoma susceptibility but no significant difference was found between RASSF1A gene promoter methylation and the prognosis and clinical-pathological features of melanoma.
beta-catenin (show CTNNB1 Proteins) was predominantly associated with Na+/H+ exchanger regulating factor 1 (NHERF1 (show SLC9A3R2 Proteins)) in a dynamic context and an increase of its oncogenic function through RAS-association domain family 1, isoform A (RASSF1A) inactivation in liver metastases.
essential role of RASSF1A in regulating TNF-alpha (show TNF Proteins) signalling in cardiomyocytes, with RASSF1A being key in the formation of the TNFR (show TNFRSF1A Proteins) complex and in signal transmission to the downstream targets
RASSF1A may function to interfere and restrict TLR-driven activation of NF-kappaB (show NFKB1 Proteins) and is essential for protection against inflammation-induced injury.
nickel-smelting fumes upregulated the expression of RASSF1A. This suggest that nickel-smelting fumes could be toxic to cells, inducing cell apoptosis and necrosis.
Loss of RASSF1A synergizes with deregulated RUNX2 (show RUNX2 Proteins) signaling in tumorigenesis.
Concomitant with the loss of Rassf1a, the loss of p53 (show TP53 Proteins) (which causes unrestrained propagation of tetraploids into aneuploid cells) further undermines genomic stability and accelerates tumorigenesis.
Data show that methylation of CCND-2 (show CCND2 Proteins), p16, RAR-beta (show RARB Proteins) and RASSF-1a was significantly more prevalent in tumor than in normal tissue specimens.
Rassf1A acts as a tumor suppressor gene.
cooperation between inactivation of Rassf1a and Apc (show APC Proteins) resulting in accelerated intestinal tumourigenesis.
RASSF1A mediates p21Cip1/Waf1 (show CDKN1A Proteins)-dependent cell cycle arrest and senescence through modulation of the Raf (show RAF1 Proteins)-MEK (show MDK Proteins)-ERK (show EPHB2 Proteins) pathway and inhibition of Akt (show AKT1 Proteins).
This gene encodes a protein similar to the RAS effector proteins. Loss or altered expression of this gene has been associated with the pathogenesis of a variety of cancers, which suggests the tumor suppressor function of this gene. The inactivation of this gene was found to be correlated with the hypermethylation of its CpG-island promoter region. The encoded protein was found to interact with DNA repair protein XPA. The protein was also shown to inhibit the accumulation of cyclin D1, and thus induce cell cycle arrest. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
