More Proteins for Ribosomal Protein L6 (RPL6) Interaction Partners

Human Ribosomal Protein L6 (RPL6) interaction partners

  1. The ribosomal protein L6 binds to and suppresses the E3 ubiquitin ligase activity of HDM2, and subsequently attenuates HDM2-mediated p53 polyubiquitination and degradation.

  2. Down-regulation of RPL6 could suppress cell growth and cell cycle progression at least through down-regulating cyclin E

  3. RPL6 was overexpressed in human gastric cancer and its over-expression could promote cell growth and cell cycle progression at least through upregulating cyclin E expression.

  4. The high expression of RPL6/Taxreb107 in drug resistant gastric cancer cell shows its correlation with multiple-drug resistance in gastric cancer.

  1. Taxreb107 has a role as a lactogenic hormone-responsive gene during differentiation of the mammary gland.

Ribosomal Protein L6 (RPL6) Protein Profile

Protein Summary

Ribosomes, the organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. Together these subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 structurally distinct proteins. This gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 60S subunit. The protein belongs to the L6E family of ribosomal proteins. It is located in the cytoplasm. The protein can bind specifically to domain C of the tax-responsive enhancer element of human T-cell leukemia virus type 1, and it has been suggested that the protein may participate in tax-mediated transactivation of transcription. As is typical for genes encoding ribosomal proteins, there are multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene dispersed through the genome. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.
