The antibody is highly specific to CGRP and does not react with other neuropeptides. The antibody works at least on human and guinea pig tissues, but does not work on rat tissues.
Immunogen
Monoclonal antibody to CGRP is derived from the hybridoma produced by fusion between myeloma cells and Balb/c spleen cells. A terminal fragment of CGRP-coupled to BSA with glutaraldehyde was used as an immunogen

The Biohit monoclonal antibody to CGRP (clone CD8) is highly specific and allows also double stainings with polyclonal antibodies enabling colocalization studies of neurotransmitters. In addition to its research use, the monoclonal antibody to CGRP also has many possible diagnostic applications.
