Background: Frizzled-5 (FZD5) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the FZD5 gene, this gene encodes a polypeptide of 585 amino acids. It is a member of of the 'frizzled' gene family, which encode 7-transmembrane domain proteins. He et al. (1997) showed that human frizzled 5 is the receptor for the Wnt5A ligand.
