Background
- Protein S is a 77 kDa vitamin K-dependent glycoprotein. Protein S is produced by endothelium, the liver and megakaryocytes, but is found circulating in plasma. Protein S binds activated Protein C enabling inactivation of Factor Va and VIIIa, but it can also form a non-covalent complex with C4bp.Synonyms: PROS, Vitamin K-dependent protein S
