Western Blotting (WB), Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA), Functional Studies (Func)
  • Purification

    Affinity chromatography.

    Immunogen

Highly pure (>98%) recombinant rat MCP-1(MCAF) (rat MCP-1(MCAF).
  • Application Notes

Neutralization: To yield one-half maximal inhibition [ND50] of the biological activity of rMCP-1 (50 ng/mL),a concentration of 1.75-3.0 μg/mL of this antibody is required. ELISA: To detect rMCP-1 by direct ELISA (using 100 l/well antibody solution) a concentration of atleast 0.5 μg/mL of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, inconjunction with compatible secondary reagents, allows the detection of 0.2-0.4 ng/wellof recombinant rMCP-1. Western Blot: To detect rMCP-1 by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of0.1-0.2 μg/mL. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limitfor recombinant rMCP-1 is 1.5-3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducingconditions.
    Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

    Alternative Name

    MCP1 / CCL2

    Background

This chemotactic factor attracts monocytes and basophils but not neutrophils or eosinophils and augments monocyte anti-tumor activity. It has been implicated in the pathogenesis of diseases characterized by monocytic infiltrates, like psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis or atherosclerosis. It may be involved in the recruitment of monocytes into the arterial wall during the disease process of atherosclerosis.Synonyms: C-C motif chemokine 2, HC-11, HC11, MCAF, MCP-1, Monocyte chemoattractant protein 1, Monocyte chemotactic and activating factor, Monocyte chemotactic protein 1, Monocyte secretory protein JE, SCYA2, Small-inducible cytokine A2
