Background
-
Synonyms: Neuroligin 4-like (Neuroligin-4) (NL-4)
Target Description: Neuroligin4 is encoded by the gene NLGN4. Neuroligin4 is a transmembrane scaffolding protein and cell adhesion molecule. It is involved in cell-cell interactions in neurons and in other cell types. It is expressed in many tissues, including retina and brain, where it is located at the postysynaptic membrane and is involved in regulation of synapses, synapse formation and synaptic transmission. Diseases associated with this gene include forms of Autism and Asperger Syndrome.
