SIK2 phosphorylates 'Ser-794' of IRS1 in insulin-stimulated adipocytes, potentially modulating the efficiency of insulin signal transduction. It inhibits CREB activity by phosphorylating and repressing TORCs, the CREB-specific coactivators.
