Background
Amylin or islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP) is produced in the pancreas beta cells and coreleased with insulin. The amino acid sequence shows great homology with CGRP. Amylin has been shown to reverse insulin inhibition of hepatic gluconeogenesis and to inhibit muscle uptake of glucose.
