-
Specificity
- The antibody recognizes Butyrylcholinesterase from Human Serum. The reagents were evaluated for potency, purity and specificity using most or all of the following techniques: Immunoelectrophoresis, Cross-Immunoelectrophoresis, single Radial Immunodiffusion (Ouchterlony), block titration, ELISA, Immunoblotting and Enzyme Inhibition. Cross-reactivities against enzymes of other sources may occur but have not been determined.

Background
- Butyrylcholinesterase is synthetizised in the liver, and is predominantly found in serum, liver and pancreas. This enzyme is a tetrameric glycoprotein (molecular mass of 350 kDa), and consists of four subunits. Defects in Butyrylcholinesterase are the cause of a metabolic disorder characterized by prolonged apnoea after the use of certain anesthetic drugs, including the muscle relaxants succinylcholine or mivacurium and other ester local anesthetics.Synonyms: Acylcholine acylhydrolase, BCHE, Butyrylcholine esterase, CHE1, Choline esterase II, Pseudocholinesterase
