Background
Background: Activity-dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP) is a factor essential to neurodevelopment. ADNP protein structure consists of nine zinc fingers, a proline-rich region, a nuclear bipartite localization signal, and a homeobox domain profile, suggesting a transcription factor function. ADNP has been shown to differentially associate with chromatin in non-differentiated and neuronal-differentiated cells. ADNP may also mediate the neuroprotective effects of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP).
