Background
- Background: UTX (ubiquitously transcribed X chromosome tetratricopeptide repeat protein) is a JmjC domain- and tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR) domain- containing protein. UTX functions as a histone demethylase that specifically demethylates 'Lys-27' of histone H3, It demethylates trimethylated and dimethylated but not monomethylated H3 'Lys-27'. UTX plays a central role in regulation of posterior development, by regulating HOX gene expression [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) O15550].
