    Background

Background: Non-canonical poly(A) RNA polymerase PAPD5, also called terminal uridylyltransferase 3 (TUTase 3), is encoded for by the gene PAPD5. TUTase 3 is the catalytic subunit of a TRAMP-like complex which has poly(A) RNA polymerase activity and is involved in a post-transcriptional quality control mechanism. PAPD5 plays a role in replication-dependent histone mRNA degradation and may play a role in sister chromatid cohesion [taken from UniProtKB (Entry: Q8NDF8)].
