Background
- Background: Leucine-zipper and sterile-alpha motif kinase (ZAK) is a mitogen activated protein kinase kinase kinase involved in the S and G2 phase cell cycle checkpoint. ZAK has been shown to activate the stress-activated protein kinase (c-jun N-terminal kinase) pathway and NF-kappaB. It has also been found to be a key mediator of cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and myocardial scars.
