    Alternative Name

    Myosin-10

    Background

Background: Myosin II is a hexameric protein that consist of a pair of heavy chain subunits (MHC), a pair of essential light chain subunits (MLC), and a pair of regulatory light chain subunits (RLCs). Non-muscle myosin heavy chain II-B is encoded by the myosin heavy chain 10 gene (MYH10) and non-muscle myosin heavy chain II-A is encoded by the Myosin heavy chain 9 gene (MYH9). Myosin in non-muscle cells is involved in motile cellular processes which include cytokinesis, cell shape, secrection, and capping.
